TER-119 (Ly-76) is a 52 kDa glycophorin A–associated, erythroid-specific antigen expressed from early proerythblasts to mature erythrocytes. It is absent from earlier erythroid progenitors, including BFU-E (blast-forming unit–erythroid) and CFU-E (colony-forming unit–erythroid). The TER-119 antibody is widely used to identify and study cells of the erythroid lineage.
